Peoples Health History
Peoples Health is a Medicare Advantage organization. Established in 1994, Peoples Health was founded by medical providers and guided by physicians. Our primary focus is providing coverage to people with Medicare.

Our Background and Beliefs
In 1997, in the formative years of Medicare Advantage (at the time called “Medicare + Choice”), Peoples Health launched a “demonstration project” to help Medicare test the Medicare Advantage concept. That pioneering project — that health plan — is now one of Louisiana’s largest Medicare Advantage plans. It’s a true homegrown success story.
For us, success is built on many things and measured in many ways. It’s built on prevention and early detection. It’s built on easy access to care and face-to-face, personal attention. It’s built on providing free health education in communities we serve. But the best measure of success is when we are able to help our members reach their own health goals.
We want you to be as healthy as you can be.
To deliver on that goal, we use a team approach. That’s why we say Peoples Health is Your Medicare Health Team.
Your Medicare Health Team
In many years of serving people with Medicare, we’ve seen how health issues — sometimes very complicated health issues — can surface quite unexpectedly. We’ve also learned that what works is teamwork.
Our plan members are backed by a Medicare health team made up of local health care professionals to assist and help coordinate care. From simple reminders about annual screenings to more complex care coordination, we work with our plan members to help them enjoy the best health possible.
